Back in 2019, Sam & Matt met in a pizzeria in NYC. The conversation sparked instantly when Sam casually dropped a “y’all,” adding a little southern flavor to a classic New York night. It felt easy. Natural. Promising.

COVID hit, distance took over, and a year later Sam moved six hours away to Virginia to begin her career. Like many modern love stories, theirs paused — not ended — just waiting for the right moment to continue.

During that time, Sam grew close to Matt’s younger sister, Melissa (proof that Matt always knew he wanted someone who’d truly fit into his family). In Christmas 2021, Melissa made a bold prediction: “You’re going to end up with someone from back home.”

She was right, and she was talking about her brother.

Just one month later, Sam & Matt decided to try again. Their first official date, three years after meeting, took place at L&B Spumoni Gardens. Another pizzeria. Another spark. Another sign.
