Karlene & Ryan met when they were 19 at a mutual family friend’s party. After ‘charming the pants’ off of him, she asked for his screen name, and they chatted that night online. What she thought was going to be a simple getting-to-know-you turned into a seven-hour conversation, which then turned into video calls, then actual phone calls. From that day on, they have stuck together even during some really rough times. They went from going broke trying to pay for a fancy dinner at Applebee’s to owning a home together. They’ve been through so much (so many medical scares, a fair share of funerals, and a lot of life transitions).
They spent a lot of their time together at Rutgers. So Ryan proposed at this lovely park that has the Raritan River and the beautiful Rutgers, New Brunswick campus on each side. Afterward, he took her to the very first fancy dinner spot they ever ate at as a couple. He even managed to record the moment on film and got some of Karlene’s friends to help him pick up the ring and get her hair & make-up done. It was absolutely perfect! ❤️
